World We Dare to Imagine Pitch

Food Forward Food Forward is an organization that I've recently learned about that is dedicated to combating food waste. I feel that food waste is a very common problem that humans have continued to neglect. I also feel that I'm particularly passionate about this issue because its a problem that we as humans should be able to fix easy and it is an issue created by greed and lack of empathy.  I'm passionate about this organization specifically because they are local to LA, and I've always been a believer of if you want to  change the world you have to act local first. Food Forward is unique because like other non-profits fighting food waste who work with restaurants. Food Forward works with grocery stores, to reduce and target food waste on a larger scale starting with the produce. Sicilian-style pizza, as the name implies, originates from the Sicily region in Italy. The pizza was originally a street food called "sfincione" that was many's drunk food of choice in the capital of Sicily Palermo. Originally, it was served topped with anchovies, tuma (raw sheep milk cheese), pecorino cheese, onions, salt, and olive oil. Tomato sauce wasn't used until after World War II when the price of tomatoes dropped, making it affo...
